During a quiet moment throughout the day i have the opportunity to reflect on many things. Some are thought provoking, others not so much. Today while meditating the thought of trauma came to mind but more specifically one's ability to move past trauma. This caused me to reflect upon my experience in having individual and group therapy. When having the conversations, i discovered that an overwhelming majority was challenged not with moving past trauma but rather what to put in its place. It was explained that for some, having lived with trauma for such a long period of time caused some of the individuals to identify with the trauma as a part of the adopted personality. When this happens, it becomes increasingly difficult to move past something i now identify as me... How do we help others in their continued efforts to move past trauma without further trauma?
